Our June gathering will be a recap of the music from the 2023/24 program year. After playing through the June tunes presented by our Tune Master, we’ll play through all the tunes we learned throughout the year, discussing which ones we’d like to include in our concerts for the coming year.
Dominique has a passion for melody-driven dance music and responsive, rhythmic accompaniment, as well as for Gaelic songs, airs, and 18th century harp tunes.
Harpist Dominique Dodge will lead our May workshop, offering a set of Scottish tunes, drawing on Gaelic and West Highland repertoire from the 18th and 19th centuries. Note that this gathering is a departure from our usual 2nd Sunday to avoid meeting on Mother’s Day.
Come join us for a free concert as we play new and old Scottish favorites at the Portsmouth, NH, Public Library.
Our March gathering will be a rehearsal of all our concert tunes. You don’t have to play in one of our spring concerts to enjoy this event. We welcome newcomers to all our gatherings. Note that clocks “spring ahead” that weekend so don’t forget to change your clock or you’ll be an hour late!
Accordionist Jeremiah McLane will teach our February workshop. Fluent in many different genres of music, most of his work now - both composing and playing - is with traditional Celtic and French music.
Gordon Peery will lead our gathering as we play through some of our tunes that we’ll be playing in concerts later in the season.
This past February Karen Steven and Alastair MacDonald paid a surprise visit to the NH Scottish Music Club. They were such a big hit that we immediately booked them for a return visit.
Neil Pearlman will be leading a workshop for our October gathering, followed by a tea and coffee break and jam session.
Your music committee was hard at work this summer putting together concert sets for our new program year. Visit the music page to print them out and bring them to the September gathering when Gordon Peery will lead us through our first reading of them.
Join us for our final gathering of the 2022/23 program year as we play through our new June tunes and revisit all the tunes we added to our repertoire since last September.
Champion fiddler Mari Black brings her trio to Nelson for an exciting Sunday afternoon concert.
Come join us as we host a Scottish jam session in New Hampshire’s Monadnock region. Acoustic musicians of all abilities - beginner to professional - are welcome.
Ed Pearlman will be returning to the NH Scottish Music Club to lead our May workshop, when he will introduce a March, Strathspey, and Jig set.
Join us for an afternoon of Scottish music, to enjoy toe-tapping reels and jigs, lively strathspeys and marches, and poignant slow airs performed by the skilled members of the New Hampshire Scottish Music Club.
