Fiddle Hell - In Person
IN-PERSON: Fiddle Hell will be an entirely in-person festival in November. Meet up and jam with your old friends and make new ones! Sessions will not be recorded for replays online.
SESSIONS: About 350 sessions, with 20 concerts, 35 instructor-led jams, and 300 workshops! And there will be lots of informal jam spots as always. While all acoustic instruments are welcome, the main tracks are for fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, cello, and singing, at 4 different levels. Have fun with your fellow musicians as you absorb techniques, styles, tunes, and history, from an amazing set of instructors.
ARTISTS: A great staff of about 70 teaching and performing artists including Liz Knowles, Pascal Gemme, Katie McNally, Darol Anger, Sharon Gilchrist, Rachel Eddy, and Rev. Robert Jones. The detailed schedule will be published in September, including session descriptions, instruments, levels, and artists.
Fall Fiddle Festival Workshops & Concert
Fiddlers from the Celtic, New England, and Franco-American fiddling traditions will join forces in Concord for the sixth Fall Fiddle Festival, a day packed with workshops and group playing for fiddlers (and violinists who are interested in learning to fiddle!). The Festival, open to teens and adults, will include workshops on a variety of topics at the novice, intermediate, and advanced levels. In the evening, all four fiddle faculty members, along with their musical collaborators, will present a toe-tapping evening concert of fiddle music open to the public.
The Festival will feature guest faculty members Hanneke Cassel and Don Roy, alongside two of New Hampshire’s own fiddling favorites, Audrey Budington and Liz Faiella. They’ll be joined for the evening concert by accompanists Dan Faiella, guitar and Cindy Roy, piano.
New Hampshire Highland Games

There’s something for everyone from Scottish music, dance, food, and fun to heavy athletics, sheep dog trials, and crowd-favorite, massed bands. Try-It classes all day long in street curling, stone lifting, and more. Sign up for a seminar and explore topics ranging from Scottish cooking to genealogy. Fun for all ages with special kids programming and opportunities to shop in Vendor Village.

There are jam sessions, variety shows, old time country dances and traditional camp activities like swimming and games for the kids. The food at MFC is healthy, locally sourced wherever possible, respectful campers’ dietary needs, and above all, delicious.

Fiddle Hell Online
For 18 years, the Fiddle Hell Massachusetts Festival has been a yearly gathering of fiddlers, cellists, mandolin/guitar/banjo players, and singers to meet, jam, learn, listen, and have fun. It's both friendly and diverse, crossing all ages and including many traditional musical styles. To keep ourselves safe during the pandemic, we re-imagined Fiddle Hell as an online festival and music camp. We have enjoyed five Fiddle Hell Onlines, with a sixth planned for April 11-14, 2024. Typically, there are about 10% beginners, 30% low intermediates, 35% high intermediates, and 25% advanced players, with many workshop and jam session choices at each level.
The sixth Fiddle Hell Online will be on April 11-14, 2024, with replays of all sessions for 4 months. There will be 160 live workshops to learn from, 25 live concerts to enjoy, and 25 live jam sessions to join on Zoom, for fiddle, mandolin, cello, guitar, banjo, & singing. Other instruments and listeners are welcome, too. Fiddle Hell instructors -- experienced & supportive teachers, and wonderful & inspiring players -- will cover Bluegrass, Blues, Cajun, Cape Breton, East European, Electric, Irish, Jazz, Jazz Manouche, Klezmer, Latin, Mexican, New Acoustic, New England, Old-Time Southern, Québécois, Scandinavian, Scottish, and Swing styles. Historical and technical workshops will be on the program in addition to tune and style learning. Workshops and jams are designed for Beginners, Low Intermediates, High Intermediates, and Advanced players, although you can attend or replay any sessions you like.
