Gordon Peery joins the NHSMC board

Gordon Peery has played piano with our organization many times over the years. After a several year hiatus he returned last spring to accompany us on piano for concerts in Wilton, Bedford and at the Portsmouth Public Library. This led to a discussion about a longer-term involvement with what has become the New Hampshire Scottish Music Club.

Gordon’s vision for the future growth of NHSMC has served as a catalyst for us to move forward with some changes in hopes of attracting new members and becoming an organization that is both solid and nimble. He has been involved with other non-profits which underwent significant rebranding and restructuring.

Gordon now has enthusiastically joined the SMC executive board. (The board voted unanimously to appoint him to the one-year member-at-large position.) Gordon has also graciously agreed to continue leading us forward musically as we prepare for our 2023 spring concert season.

Gordon has been playing for contra dances for decades, and more recently, for Celtic music concerts. His musical endeavors also include accompanying singers for the American Songbook repertoire, as well as various jazz, blues, and rock and roll configurations. This breadth of experience informs his approach to leading NHSMC.
