Bass Hall in Pictures

An enthusiastic packed house welcomed the New Hampshire Scottish Music Club back to Bass Hall for another Tartan Day Concert in Peterborough. With a full 20 piece ensemble and led by Gordon Peery, we played a fine selection of jigs and reels, strathspeys and waltzes, hornpipes and airs, all to the audience's delight. The many rehearsals (special thanks to Anne for hosting and Gordon for his leadership) led to a performance that was both polished and crisp. And the audience's appreciation in return gave everyone a wonderful musical connection as only live music can. Congratulations to All for a memorable day.

Can't wait for the next show. Onward and Upward!

All the Best, Kip

Most of us arrived at Bass Hall at 12:30, in time to set up chairs and tune up. Some of us took wrong turns and arrived later, but still we had time for a sound check and to iron out a few kinks. Then some of us ate lunch while others went outside for a walk to enjoy the beautiful day before changing into our concert dress and congregating in the green room.

Frank Stewart (mandolin) and Rob Drugan (guitar)

Charlene Ledoux practices her concert smile. Tom Berry (guitar) isn’t so sure.

Trudy Loy (Bodran), Barb Shaltis (our newest member to perform with the group), and Deb DellOrfano (fiddle).

Sarah Berry, Tom’s daughter, took the following pictures of our performance. Thank you, Sarah!

Back row, left to right: Trudy Loy, Frank Stewart, Tom Berry; middle row: Anne Baier, Sylvia Miskoe, Barb Shaltis, Front: Charlie Silleti, Pat Edwards. Frank, Tom, and Barb are our newest members and we featured two of Sylvia’s original tunes - Bittersweet Waltz and Four in One.

Kip Ferguson did a stand up job as MC. Also in the back row: Rob Drugan on guitar and Bob Reed (standing) on bass.

We featured one of Alan Wilson’s original tunes, Fernbank Jig.

Deb DellOrfano and Katy Botsford (left to right) in the front row; Lillian Wilson and Connie Eppich behind them.

Every time Kip stepped up to the microphone, this little boy (on the left) started giggling, making the rest of us laugh. Shortly before the end of the concert, Kip admitted the little boy is his grandson. It would be great if Kip’s grandkids could come to every concert!

Left to Right: Noah, Mary (Kip’s wife), and Elizabeth

Following the concert more than half the group migrated across the street to Coopershill for a celebratory Irish dinner. When making the reservation, we were told that the most they could accommodate at their largest table was ten, but we are a friendly group, so we made it work for thirteen.

Our server was not to be fazed by 13 separate checks, even as some of us trickled in after she’d brought the first drink order.

Shortly after our concert, Anne received this email from a fellow accordion player: BIG WOW!! Candace and I had such a great time - along with the rest of the audience. We couldn't stop tapping our feet and even now the tunes are running around in our heads. Well done all, and you all looked the part for Tartan Day as well.

Thanks for such a fun Sunday afternoon.
