Join us for an afternoon of Scottish music, to enjoy toe-tapping reels and jigs, lively strathspeys and marches, and poignant slow airs performed by the skilled members of the New Hampshire Scottish Music Club. The group, founded in 1988 as the Strathspey and Reel Society of NH, aims to encourage the learning and preservation of traditional Scottish music. Though based in Concord, NH, the Club draws membership from throughout central New England. Their repertoire includes many of the standard Scottish fiddle tunes, but also tunes that are more obscure, or in some cases, recently composed in the Scottish tradition. For this concert, an orchestra of about 20 members will perform on fiddles, flutes, accordions, and various stringed instruments!
