In addition to our monthly gatherings in Concord, the NH Scottish Music Club hosts satellite sessions - gatherings in towns throughout New Hampshire. Our goal is to entice musicians local to that area to come and enjoy playing with some members of our core group. This is just fun in itself, but of course it’s a great way to get introduced to SMC, and to consider joining. As with our monthly gatherings, it is free to attend and we welcome all acoustic instruments, all ages, and all abilities.
Our focus will be on playing Scottish tunes. We’ll have copies of our Session Book available to borrow or purchase ($10). Or bring along your favorite Scottish tune. Irish, Cape Breton, and New England tunes are also welcome.
You’re a beginning musician and not sure this session is for you? Come and check us out. We’ll start by playing each tune slowly before playing it at dance tempo.
Following the jam we’ll have a tea & coffee break before the Mari Black Celtic Trio concert that begins at 4 p.m. (see below).
